Colonial Life recently donated $100,000 to Allen University to support curriculum for inclusion courses that will be provided to students and adults in the Boeing Institute on Civility building and a summer camp for high school students focusing on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Construction of the institute will be complete later this year.
“This partnership aligns with our commitments to inclusion and diversity and providing students with equitable access to quality education,” said Tim Arnold, president of Colonial Life. “Colonial Life’s support of Allen University to support students is an investment in our future.”
The three-year contribution will help fund curriculum that provides communication training that addresses inequities for people of color. Through collaborative problem-solving and learning techniques, classes will focus on inclusion and diversity related to opinion, speech, culture and appearance.
President of Allen University, Dr. Ernest McNealey, said, “Colonial Life has been an extraordinary corporate citizen in South Carolina via its leadership and community-based programming, as well as its support of higher education.”
