Colonial Life named Richland One Partner of the Year

A partnership crossing two decades has earned accolades for Colonial Life.

The Richland One (S.C.) School District has named Colonial Life its District Partner of the Year for ongoing support of students and teachers, especially at H.B. Rhame Elementary and St. Andrews Middle schools.

Each month, Colonial Life employees volunteer with Harvest Hope Food Bank’s Backpack program and pack bags of easy-to-open food for 20 Rhame Elementary students at risk for hunger. The bags contain enough food to last the students through the weekend, during school vacations and holidays.

Colonial Life also has had an educational outreach partnership with St. Andrews Middle since 2002. The partnership includes Ravenous Readers, Lunch Buddies, Story Tellers, Book Clubs and Junior Achievement, all led by Colonial Life volunteers.

“The partnership works so smoothly because of the support our volunteers provide for all the programs, but it wouldn’t be possible without the administration and teachers at St. Andrews Middle School,” said Matt Covington, an account manager with Colonial Life’s Public Sector Market Services.

“Everyone involved with the programs has an integral part in making this partnership a success.”

Colonial Life also supports many other nonprofit organizations that benefit students in Richland One, including Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands, College Summit and Salvation Army.
