Colonial Life gets social to raise money with Midlands Gives

It’s one of the biggest fundraising days of the year for nonprofits – and you can help make it bigger than ever just by using social media.

Midlands Gives is an annual event sponsored by the Central Carolina Community Foundation that helps nonprofits across the region by connecting them with donors and businesses to raise money. Part of the Give Local America! initiative, Midlands Gives raised $1.5 million in 2015 to help 252 nonprofits.

But Colonial Life would like to help it do even better on May 3.

From April 8-17, social media users can unlock the #ColonialLifeCares prize – simply by using social media. The Central Carolina Community Foundation will post to Facebook and Twitter about the #ColonialLifeCares prize. For every share of the original Facebook post and retweet of the original tweet, Colonial Life will donate $10, up to $5,000.

On May 3, that $5,000 will be given away in 10 prizes of $500 to nonprofits drawn at random. Each of those #ColonialLifeCares prizes will also be shared on social media.

Want to take part? Head over to the CCCF Facebook page to share the #ColonialLifeCares post. Feel free to tag a local nonprofit that you support. Or do it right here, if you’re logged in.

Colonial Life’s support of Midlands Gives also included $10,000 to help train and educate nonprofits on using social media. The Central Carolina Community Foundation has named Colonial Life the official Social Media Champion of the annual fundraising event.
