Discover this resource to help you swing at life’s stressors

Do you sometimes feel like you’re in the batting cage of life and all that’s coming at you are curveballs?

Personal, family and work issues can keep us swinging again and again.

Experiencing life’s challenges can make it difficult to focus in the workplace. In fact, the 2017 Gallup State of the American Workforce report found that 70% of U.S. workers are disengaged.

Fortunately, many workers have a pinch hitter for some of life’s curveballs through employee assistance programs. EAPs feature comprehensive practical, emotional and lifestyle support to help balance the demands of life and work. They’re supported by organizations such as Ceridian, Health Advocate, WorkPartners, ESI Group, TriNet and NextGen.

Depending on your employer, the program can provide a range of services. Assistance usually is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is designed to assess and provide the best service and resource for every situation. Examples include:

  • Short-term counseling
  • Referrals for additional care
  • Online resources and educational webinars
  • Financial assistance
  • Legal consultations

EAPs aim to recognize and address issues you may be facing. The support and resources help you develop skills to produce a healthier you and foster workplace productivity.

“The stresses of life can impact our health and wellbeing and interfere with our ability to focus at work,” said Joanne Abate, assistant vice president of Global Benefits at Unum. “Employee assistance programs are just one of the benefits and programs offered to help us be our best.”

Take a few minutes to contact your human resources department to see if your organization offers an EAP. Enjoy a resource that reduces stress and distractions, so you can stay focused on the things that matter.
